Supporting Asperger Families in Essex
21 November 2008
On 2nd September, whilst members were at SAFE’s Annual General meeting (AGM), I had the honour of collecting a cheque for £3,325.00 as a donation from the Paglesham Clay Pigeon Club. The annual Clay Pigeon shoot in July offered to raise funds for SAFE along with a variety of other charities. We are extremely grateful to member John Venables for suggesting SAFE for consideration as one of the charities for this annual event. John has employed SAFE member Alex Rouse for many years and both have been active members attending a variety of SAFE’s activities, particularly our ASAP activities. Being presented with such a large donation at a wonderful evening at the Plough & Sail pub in Paglesham was great. Even better, during the evening I entered into a conversation with the woman behind the bar. I told her about SAFE and gave her one of our information files. She then told me she only works a few nights at the pub - her main job is at Royal Bank of Scotland and she expressed a desire to put SAFE forward as one of the charities they might support. I am delighted that RBS has agreed to do this - which means we will be part of a group of charities they support. We are extremely grateful for her efforts on our behalf. In this newsletter you will also read about a fun - fundraiser evening we are planning - an Indian meal at the Shagor Tandoori Restaurant on Monday 8th December. All of these events and offers from members help with our fundraising efforts so we hope you will support us in any way you can. Every little bit helps!
Thank you again, John Venables!
